Adam1 Posted October 20, 2013 Report Posted October 20, 2013 Hi guys, I'm at a bit of a loss to which I should order. I have a 2001 1.9tdi and have removed the current one but there is no part numbers on it so I'm under the impression that it's been replaced before for a cheap unit. Now the problem I have is that I have found that there is two listed for the car and I'm not sure which one it should be. I have even checked the Bosch website and that also lists two. The two that are listed are.... 0 280 217 121 & 0 281 002 757 Can anyone point me in the right direction of which one I need? Thanks Adam Quote
sparky Paul Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 Can't help with the part number, but I can give the thread a bump up.... I guess it depends upon the engine code, i.e what bhp the engine is. What I would say is that aftermarket MAF sensors are generally a disaster. If they do work, they tend not to last long. When you do find out what part you need, go for a genuine Bosch item if you can afford it, or a good secondhand Bosch unit it you can't. Quote
seatkid Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 Phone your local dealer part dept and see if they can give you the correct part no. Quote
dipsomaniac Posted October 25, 2013 Report Posted October 25, 2013 had an interesting conversation with a 30+ years experienced auto electrictian about mafs. he said that he would never fit an aftermarket/reconditioned maf as in his experience they rarely work. he would only use main dealer. but when you are looking at Quote

Scorpiorefugee Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 (edited) I got one from Ebay which was not a Bosch one but it was a recognised make using different technology and did 100K until the engine died at about 250K. About Edited October 28, 2013 by Scorpiorefugee Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted October 28, 2013 Report Posted October 28, 2013 Found the make - Pierburg. At the time this was claimed to be more efficient and reliable than the Bosch and seemed to uphold that as it outlived the car. Sorry, not found one on Ebay yet but it was a bit like http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VOLKSWAGEN-SHARAN-1-9-TDI-1995-TO-2010-AIR-MASS-FLOW-SENSOR-WITHOUT-HOUSING-MAF-/350882553442?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Car+Make%3AVW%7CModel%3ASharan&hash=item51b23ade62 Sorry, not very good at this. :) Quote
Adam1 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Report Posted October 30, 2013 Thanks for your help guys. Bosch parts catalogue listed two so wasnt sure which, anyway got the ford part number and managed to work it out from there. Thanks again B) Quote
chrislloydie Posted October 30, 2013 Report Posted October 30, 2013 Can I ask where you got it from and hiw much you paid please? Id like to replace the maf on ours. Quote
Adam1 Posted October 30, 2013 Author Report Posted October 30, 2013 I wasn't sure if mine was giving funny signals so just got a second hand one to check first before forking out on a new one but the car behaved the same so I thought can't be that must be turbo so left it. Quote
xavier Posted October 31, 2013 Report Posted October 31, 2013 I take it this the pierburg one : http://www.air-mass-meter.com/2008/general/the-solution-for-tdi-engines-pierburg-air-mass-meter-722684080/ Quote
